It may just have been a problem with my DVR. When it came back on, the program was on my DVR, but I didn't like the fact that it all reset. I really don't think it is an issue with the adapter though. Very easy to use.plugged it in and my dish network receiver picked it up right away. The only thing I have had a problem with was when I was downloading something from Dish online, my receiver locked up and reset. I haven't trie to download anything else, so maybe it was a one time thing.
i have had this item now almost 2 months and haven't had any problems at all with it. the extender will save me 5.00 a month in fees from dishpaying for itself in just 10 months. purchased to help extend the network. so that my dish receiver could be on the network as i don't have a landline telephone. easy to install, easy to work with.
I brought them to a friends house who was considering buying them and ran into the first and only problem encountered with this product. At my friends house however we first tried it from the computer room/den out to the living room where all his stereo / video / TV equipment was plugged into a powerstrip and we used the other open outlet on a two outlet plug on the wall and got either spotty connection or no signal at all.
I don't have as much equipment as he does, and as I stated these worked fine for me in an outlet shared with a powerstrip that is used by my computer, monitor, printer and network router. We tried one last outlet that only had a lamp plugged into it and ran a long cable along the baseboards to a network hub and it has worked fine ever since.
So we tried another outlet in the living room near the TV and equipment with the same poor results. We tested connection by using a netbook / laptop to check the wired connection at different outlets in these rooms.
I recently ordered a pair of Actiontec HLE08500-01 and they worked without a problem at my house. The outlets at my house where I was using the Actiontec adapters didn't have a lot of other devices plugged into the powerstrip that shared the outlet I was using.
He has since purchased 4 of his own and had the same issue in his bedroom when he tried using the outlet that the TV/DVD/Media player were all plugged into, then he tried a different outlet farther away and again it worked without any issues.
this product is very easy to use just plug and play and I don't need to dig any hole to run the wire all over the hourse and it's very convenienced. I would suggested that if the wireless signal is weak at your house please use this one instead of running the long wire.
I started out with two units, and have since added seven more. very quick, easy I wrote a similar review for the Actiontec MegaPlug 4 Port, but I realize most people are probably purchaseing the single port units to start. I've got everything connected on MegaPlug that's not within Ethernet distance of my routher (about 6 -10 feet).Devices connected: 3 PCs, 1 HR21 DirecTV DVR, Slingbox, Network Printer, 3 IP cameras.Overall satisfaction: Couldn't be betterEase of installation: Like pluggin in a lamp.
